The Malabar Coast of Kerala is a melting pot of different cooking methods and ingredients, including spices. Its cuisine, evolved as a result of centuries of trade and cultural transactions with West Asia, has acquired a distinctive character of its own within the different culinary traditions of Kerala. Internal migration has also been a major contributory factor towards the shaping of Malabar cuisine.
